The Supreme Court has said that it will consider listing a petition that seeks to de-recognise political parties that are not disclosing information about candidates accused in criminal cases despite the Supreme Court order . BJP leader and advocate Ashwini Upadhyay has filed an application in the Supreme Court.
SP candidate from Kairana Nahid Hasan mentioned
Samajwadi Party candidate Nahid Hasan has also been mentioned in the petition. SP has fielded Nahid Hasan from Kairana for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. However, the party has not published his criminal record online. The petition has sought a direction to the Election Commission to cancel the registration of a political party which violates the directions of the apex court.

Supreme Court said – will hear soon
The matter was taken up before a bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana and an early hearing was sought in view of the assembly elections in the five states. The petitioner said that the nomination has started for the first phase of voting and political parties are violating the Supreme Court’s judgment, so hearing should be done soon. The Supreme Court said that we will consider and give a date for the early hearing of the matter.

Information to be given within 48 hours
It has been said in the Supreme Court that the election commission should be directed to cancel the recognition of any political party which gives tickets to such candidates against whom criminal cases are pending and does not make the details public about them. In the Supreme Court, the petitioner said that according to the judgment given by the top court two years ago, every political party has to tell within 48 hours why it has made a criminal candidate and the details will have to be put on its website.
