-Five army personnel including two officers made supreme sacrifice
Rajouri,(His). Two terrorists, including a top Afghanistan-trained Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bajimal area of Kalakot in Rajouri district on Thursday. Whereas during this time another army soldier was sacrificed. On Wednesday, four soldiers including two officers were sacrificed, after which till now five soldiers have been sacrificed for the country during this encounter.
Officials said the firing was stopped on Thursday night and the cordon of the area was tightened to ensure that the terrorists do not escape from the densely forested area. He said the firing resumed on Thursday morning and two terrorists were killed one after the other. The operation of security forces is currently going on in the area. The killed terrorists have been identified as Qwari, a Pakistani national and staunch terrorist.
PRO Defense has confirmed that Kwari, a terrorist killed during the encounter, is Pakistani. He has been trained on the Pak and Afghan front. Qwari was a high ranking terrorist commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was active with his group in Rajouri and Poonch for the last one year. He is also considered the mastermind of the Dhangri and Kandi attacks. These terrorists were sent to revive terrorism in these areas.
The Army has received information about him that he was involved in planting IEDs, carrying out attacks from caves and being a trained sniper. On January 1 this year, the same group had carried out a double terrorist attack in Dhangri, Rajouri, in which seven people were killed. Of these, five people were killed in firing and two in IED blast.
Earlier, troops including special forces were deployed in the area after receiving concrete information about movement of a group of terrorists in Bajimal area on Wednesday morning. After which, four army personnel including two officers were martyred in the encounter between security forces and terrorists. Those martyred include Captain MV Pranjal of 63 Rashtriya Rifles, resident of Karnataka, Captain Shubham of Special Force, resident of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Havildar Abdul Majid of Special Force, resident of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir and Lance Naik Sanjay Bist, resident of Nainital, Uttarakhand and sacrificed on Thursday. Another soldier is involved.
During this time, 16 Corps Commander and Romeo Force Commander of Rashtriya Rifles are closely monitoring the operation.
It is noteworthy that earlier on November 17, a terrorist was killed in an encounter in Behrote of Budhal area. Earlier on April 20 and May 05, 10 soldiers had lost their lives in ambush attacks in Mendhar area of Poonch and Kandi forest of Rajouri.
