-Rain in Gujarat due to system formed in Rajasthan
Ahmedabad (Hindustan Reporter). In the last 24 hours in Gujarat, it rained in 248 tehsils of the state. The maximum rainfall was 12 inches in Visavadar. Becharaji and Bhabhar received 6.88 inches of rain along with 7.7 inches of rain in Mendarda and Radhanpur. There was widespread impact on public life due to 6.5 inches of rain in Mehsana and 6 inches in Vanthali.
During the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, it rained in almost all the tehsils of the state. Due to water reaching the upper level in Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district, water was released from the dam. This had a widespread impact in 7 districts on the banks of river Narmada. Flood like situation arose in the villages along the river banks. In cities including Ankleshwar, Bharuch, 5 to 6 feet of water accumulated in low lying areas. A high-level meeting was organized under the chairmanship of state spokesperson Minister Hrishikesh Patel regarding the situation arising due to accumulation of more than 90 percent water in 80 dams of the state. In view of the swelling of Narmada river in Bharuch, the Delhi-Mumbai-Ahmedabad train route, which was the lifeline of the country after 10 years, was closed for 12 hours. Train service is expected to be restored on Tuesday afternoon. 100 percent water of the project has been stored in Sardar Sarovar Dam. The state includes 29 dams with more than 100 percent water storage. Apart from this, the number of reservoirs with 90 to 100 percent water storage is 63 dams. All of them have been given high alert on dams. Apart from this, 28 dams are on alert, in which 80 to 90 percent water is accumulated. 70 to 80 percent water has been stored in 20 reservoirs of the state. General warning has been issued here.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in Kutch, Patan and Morbi districts on September 20. There will be heavy rain in Banaskantha, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Anand, Bharuch and Surat. There will be rainy conditions in other areas of the state also. Deodar and Deesa have received 4.2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Bagasara in Amreli district, Visnagar, Junagadh, Rapar in Mehsana district also received 4.2 inches of rain. Vijapur, Tharad, Vadgam, Idar received 4 inches of rain. Dhrangadhra and Satlasan received 3.8 inches of rain and Kodinar, Maliyahati, Chanasma and Dantiwada received 3.7 inches of rain. There is happiness among the farmers due to 3.4 inches of rain in Kheralu, Danta, Halvad and Sami. Palsana, Harij, Sojitra, Talala, Vadnagar, Poshina, Bhensan, Chikhali, Jotana have received 3 inches of rain.
