Baramulla (Hindustan Reporter). The Pakistani Army on Saturday provided cover fire to infiltrating terrorists trying to cross the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district and targeted an Indian Army quadcopter, which was foiled with the killing of three terrorists. Brigadier PMS Dhillon told all this on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in North Kashmir’s Uri, Brigadier Dhillon said the operation was launched early Saturday in Hathlanga in Uri sector near the Line of Control following specific inputs about infiltration attempts by Pakistan-based organisations.
He said that we were getting intelligence that Pakistani organizations were trying to infiltrate into Uri to destabilize peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore we strengthened our anti-intrusion and surveillance grid.
He said that at 6:40 am today, despite bad weather, three to four terrorists were seen trying to cross the Line of Control in Hathlanga area. Contact was immediately established and the firing continued for two hours.
The army used Under-Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), Multi Grenade Launcher, MGL and rocket launcher to kill the terrorists, the official said.
During this time a terrorist was killed. The army then realized that the two injured terrorists had changed their course. After this, at about 9:15 in the morning, a second exchange of fire took place between the soldiers and the terrorists which continued for about half an hour and as a result the second terrorist was killed.
Brigadier Dhillon said the third injured terrorist infiltrated with the help of firing from a nearby Pakistani post.
He said that the Pakistani Army post provided assistance to the terrorists by firing infiltration and fired towards us. They also fired at our quadcopter. According to our estimate, the injured terrorist died in the general area, about 300 meters away from the Pakistani post. He said that the weather is very bad but search is going on in the area.
The officer said that three Pakistani terrorists have been killed in the operation and bodies of two have been recovered.
He said that this shows how the Pakistani Army supports terrorists and gives them full support to infiltrate. It also establishes how the Pakistani Army is involved in destabilizing peace in Kashmir.
The security forces also recovered one AK 47 and AK 74 rifles, seven magazines, one five kg IED, some ammunition, one Chinese pistol and some grenades along with Indian and Pakistani currency from the terrorists.
Dhillon said that we think they wanted to use IEDs on some sensitive locations including minority areas or security forces establishments.
