Central government is purchasing 20 doses of monoclonal antibodies

In this way, the terror of Nipah virus is being seen in Kozhikode, Kerala. This year Nipah virus has killed two people in Kerala. Four people have been infected with the deadly virus. Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) DG Rajiv Bahl has presented some figures which are very scary. According to the information, the mortality rate in Nipah is between 40-70 percent. The Center has started taking measures to prevent this. The Center has decided to purchase 20 doses of monoclonal antibodies from Australia.
Regarding purchasing the doses, ICMR chief Bahl said that in the year 2018 also, some doses of monoclonal antibodies were taken from Australia. Currently this dose is available only for 10 patients. 20 more doses will also be purchased. But this is such a medicine which has to be given to the patient only in the initial stages of infection.
If 100 people get infected with Nipah virus, then 40-70 people are in danger of losing their lives. Bahl said that the mortality rate in corona infection is just two-three percent. The mortality rate among patients infected with Nipah virus is quite high. Due to this, the risk increases by 40 to 70 percent. The government and health department are finding ways to prevent virus infection. Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that this is a Bangladeshi strain which is very dangerous. This virus can spread from humans to humans. So far two people have died due to Nipah virus. The special thing is that this variant is not very infectious but the death rate in it is quite high. Let us tell you that till now no vaccine for Nipah virus has been available.
