New Delhi. Bharat may soon be written instead of India in the books of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Actually, NCERT is making changes in its curriculum under the new education policy. For this, a committee of 19 members was formed. This committee itself has suggested writing the name of the country as Bharat instead of India. Besides, a recommendation has also been made to remove ancient history from the syllabus and include classical history.
According to a report, committee chairman CI Isaac said on October 25 that India is mentioned in texts like Vishnu Purana, which are 7 thousand years old. The name India began to be commonly used after the East India Company and the 1757 Battle of Plassey. In such a situation, only the name Bharat should be used for the country. He explained the reason behind the recommendation to include classical history in the NCERT syllabus. Isaac said that the British have divided Indian history into ancient, medieval and modern. Let us tell you that ancient history tells that the country was in darkness, there was no scientific awareness in it. We have suggested that children should be taught classical history along with medieval and modern history.
Recommendation to include victory stories of Hindu warriors
We have suggested that stories related to the victories of Hindu warriors should also be included in the NCERT syllabus. Currently, only our failures have been mentioned in the books. It was not told how we won over the Mughals and Sultans. It is told in the books that Mohammad Ghori had invaded India, but very rarely it is mentioned that the Kokari tribe had killed him before leaving India.

Many names of countries, India is the most popular
India has had different names since ancient times. Like Jambudweep, Bharatkhand, Himvarsha, Ajnabhavarsha, Bharatvarsha, Bharat, Aryavarta, Hind, Hindustan and India. However, the most popular name among these has been Bharat.
Origin of the word India
There are many references to the name Bharat in mythological times. Like- Bharat, son of King Dashrath and younger brother of Ram. Bharatmuni, the author of Natyashastra, King Dushyant of Puruvansh and Bharat, son of Shakuntala, who are also mentioned in Mahabharata. Bharata is counted among the sixteen best kings in the Mahabharata.
Considering mythological beliefs as the basis, behind the name Bharat there is mention of Dushyant’s son Bharat. In Aitareya Brahmana, a branch of Rigveda, there is an argument for naming India after Dushyant’s son Bharat. In this, Bharat was called a Chakravarti king i.e. the king who conquered all the four directions. It is also mentioned in Aitareya Brahmana that after conquering all four directions, Bharat performed Ashwamedha Yagya, due to which his kingdom was called Bharatvarsha.
