Scientific-Spiritual Mystery of Navratri
The word ‘Navratri’ refers to the new ahoraratras (special nights). Nav forms of Shakti are worshiped at this time. Dr. Madhuraj Vastu Guru told about it in more detail. The word ‘Ratri’ signifies accomplishment. The ancient sages of India have given more importance to the night than the day, so there is a tradition of celebrating festivals like Deepawali, Holika, Shivratri and Navratri at night only. If there was no special secret of the night, then such festivals would not be called ‘Ratri’ but ‘Din’, but the days of Navratri would not be called ‘Navadin’. The sages have made the law of Navratri twice a year. On the first day of Vikram Samvat i.e. from Pratipada (1st date) of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month to 9 days i.e. Navami and similarly after exactly 6 months from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month to Mahanavami i.e. Vijayadashami.
In these Navratras, people perform various types of fasts, restraints, rules, yagyas, hymns, worship, yoga-sadhana etc. to accumulate their spiritual and mental power. Some seekers try to achieve special accomplishments during these nights by sitting in Padmasana or Siddhasana for the whole night by chanting the inner Tratak or Beej Mantras.
In Navratri, the community of devotees gathers enthusiastically to worship Shakti on the 51 Peethas of Shakti. Those worshipers who are unable to reach these Shaktipeeths, they invoke Shakti at their place of residence.
It is considered very auspicious to stay awake all night during Navratri. Very few worshipers are seen using the night time for attaining self-power, mental strength and yogic power by sacrificing laziness.
