In the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP could not reach close to majority. There are 30 assembly seats in the Vindhya region, out of which 24 were won by the BJP. When the party returned to the government for the fourth time in 2020, the people of Vindhya region had high hopes. Nothing like this happened. To pacify the protest, Girish Gautam was made the Speaker of the Assembly.

The dominance of the people of a particular area in the organization

Political analyst Jairam Shukla said that right now the people of a particular region dominate the BJP. There is no iconic leader in MP politics from Vindhya. Right now if you talk about the big faces of BJP in MP, all are from Gwalior-Chambal region. It includes Narendra Singh Tomar, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narottam Mishra and VD Sharma. Because of this also there is resentment among the people.

Lessons learned in body and by-elections

Due to the present situation, there is resentment among the people of Vindhya region. As a result of this, the BJP lost the mayoral elections in Rewa and Singrauli. Lost the Raigaon assembly by-election. Elections were lost in many municipalities. Political analyst Jairam Shukla says that since then there is a disturbance within the BJP. Now, announcements are being made in haste for this area.

As soon as the elections approach, the entire party has become active in Vindhya. After the civic elections, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made more than half a dozen visits to this area. Along with this, all Union ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia are coming to this area. Several announcements have been made including the airport in Rewa, the expressway till Singrauli.

Political analyst Jairam Shukla said that there is no industry in this area. People of this area used to go for government jobs more. Vyapam exams are not happening. MPPSC has also not given the result since 2018. The youth is angry because of this. Vindhya is backward in the field of health and education as compared to other parts of MP. Whereas, the condition of Gwalior, Indore and Bhopal is much better. All these things bother the new generation. This time the youth and students have created an atmosphere against the government.

Senior leaders are sidelined

He said that one thing which is being seen in the entire BJP right now is that senior leaders are constantly taking sides. Same is the situation in Vindhya region. There is no coordination among the senior leaders of the party. New faces were brought over them. This is also a big reason why big leaders are being marginalised. They have limited themselves, due to which the party is suffering.

The party is scared!

The BJP is scared of the political equations in Vindhyas now. Sensing these things, veteran leaders of the party are engaged in damage control. In the last elections, BJP was left out of power due to few seats. In such a situation, efforts are being made to repeat the performance of 2018 in Vindhya by putting all the things together. With the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party in that area, the contest has become triangular. BJP is more worried about this.
