After a four-hour effort, fire brigade personnel doused the blaze that started from the third floor of the Swapnalok complex and spread to the upper floors of the eight-storey building, which houses several offices. Officials said rescue operations are still on as the smoke has not cleared yet. Ten fire tenders reached the spot and are engaged in the operation to douse the fire.
Nearby houses were evacuated

Due to the strong flames rising from the building, there was panic among the people around. Police evacuated people living in nearby buildings. According to the locals, the fire broke out between 7.30 and 8 am. The cause of the fire was not known. State minister T. Srinivas Yadav rushed to the spot and was supervising the rescue and relief work.

Additional DCP of South Zone Syed Rafiq said that the fire broke out at around 7:30 pm due to short circuit, we are trying to rescue the people trapped inside, and till now we do not know how many people are trapped. Fire engines have reached the spot and rescue operations are on.
11 people were rescued: Minister Talasani Srinivas

Telangana government minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the fire engines have brought the fire under control after the rescue teams reached the spot. 5-6 people are still trapped in a room inside the building. Rescuers are using iron rods to rescue everyone who broke through the wall and have brought down 11 people so far.
Second major incident in two months in Hyderabad

This is the second major fire accident in Hyderabad’s twin city Secunderabad in less than two months. On January 28, three people were killed in a massive fire at a multi-storey commercial complex. The building was completely gutted in the fire and was later demolished by the authorities, as the structure had become weak.
