A massive fire broke out in a district hospital in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra on Saturday, killing at least 10 people. happened. Covid patients were kept in this hospital. The District Collector said that 17 patients were suffering from Corona virus (Covid-19) when the fire broke out at around 11 am. It is being told that the reason behind the massive fire is a short circuit.

Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation Chief Fire Officer Shankar Misal said that after the fire broke out, police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the facility and launched rescue and fire fighting operations. Misal said the fire was brought under control at around 1.30 pm and the cooling operation was underway, suspected to be a short circuit. The injured patients were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were taken to a nearby hospital, a police official said. Out of 10 were declared dead. Taking action on the matter, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also directed to order an inquiry. He has also sought a detailed report of the matter. Thackeray’s office issued a statement saying that as soon as the Chief Minister came to know about the incident, he spoke to District Guardian Minister Hassan Mushrif and Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and asked them to ensure medical facilities to the needy people. A detailed inquiry report has also been sought in the matter.

Announcement of giving 5 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased
The Chief Minister’s Office said that CM Thackeray has expressed condolences and ordered a detailed inquiry and action against those responsible for the negligence. The Home Minister has expressed grief over the incident by tweeting. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the government has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. Along with this, the Health Ministry has asked the Collector of Ahmednagar to investigate the incident and sought a report in a week.
