Patna . Chhath, the great festival of the people of Purvanchal, will start from today. Today, with Nahay-Khay, the festival of folk faith or rather the festival of nature, the festival of sun worship will begin. This great festival, which lasts for four days, will conclude on Monday morning with the offering of water to the rising sun. Although it is a major festival of the people of Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, but with time people of other states have also started celebrating this great festival. Especially in Delhi and NCR, people from different parts of the country can be seen celebrating this festival together at the same ghat. For this, the work of building ghats on the banks of river Yamuna and in the colonies has almost been completed.

Although Chhath Mahaparva is celebrated in a river or pond, but after the Corona period, people have now started giving priority to celebrating it in their own colonies. One of the reasons behind this in Delhi-NCR is the dirty water of Yamuna river and the restrictions regarding Chhath in Yamuna. Vidyanand Thakur, general secretary of All India Mithila Sangh and associated with the old Seemapuri Chhath Puja organizing committee, says that we not only get help from the government for organizing the Chhath festival, apart from this, we have also been organizing it successfully by donating among ourselves. Leaving aside the two years of Corona period, this is the 23rd year when we will organize Chhath in Seemapuri. Yes, after the Corona period, the help from the government has definitely reduced but the crowd of people has increased here. People around Seemapuri now come here to celebrate Chhath instead of going to Yamuna.
Preparations start after Bhaiya Dooj

Many types of Prasad are offered during Chhath, among which Thekua is important. Thekua is made from wheat flour. For this, it is first washed and dried and then it is ground by itself. However, now there are many flour mill owners who clean the mill properly and grind only Chhath Prasad. But, still most of the fasting people grind the Prasad themselves at home. Special precautions have to be taken even while drying wheat. As if no bird would betray him. In such a situation, someone has to remain there till the wheat dries. However, preparations for making Prasad start after Bhaiya Dooj. Like wheat is washed a day before Nahay Khas. When it dries on the day of Nahay Khay, it is ground or ground on a mill in the morning on the day of Kharna.

This year the prices of many things used in Chhath Puja have increased. Many things including fruits, sugarcane, turmeric lumps are costlier than last year. Rakesh says that this festival is celebrated better in the village, but not everyone is able to go to the village with the family. Because of this, faith in it has increased in the city.
