Like UP, AAP will not be able to open its account in Himachal elections: Anurag

Shimla, May 13 (PTI) Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will not be able to open its account in Himachal Pradesh elections like in Uttar Pradesh.

Talking to reporters after addressing a program in Chamba here, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that AAP did not win a single seat out of 403 in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

He said that AAP had to lose its deposits in most of the seats in UP. The minister said that AAP will also face the same situation in Himachal Pradesh and will not be able to win even a single seat.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections are likely to be held by the end of this year. Without naming AAP, Thakur asked what can be expected from a party whose state president, convener general secretary and the head of the women’s wing have left the party.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, the minister said the inflation rate between 2004 and 2014 had reached 14 per cent in the previous UPA government without any reason. He said that at present, the reason for this rate increase is mainly due to the disruption of supply chain due to the Covid-19 epidemic and the Russo-Ukraine war.

Counting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that 190 crore vaccines were administered free of cost in the country and free ration was provided to below poverty line families.

Earlier in the program organized on National Urban Livelihood Mission and Youth Promotion at Chaugan, he said that Prime Minister Modi has already declared Chamba as an aspirational district.

He said that Chamba would be far ahead in the coming years as compared to the developed districts of the country. He supported the idea of developing Chamba as a heritage city to attract tourists.
