    SC rebukes on Lakhimpur violence

DNP Desk: The hearing in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case was held in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. During this, the Supreme Court took a tough stand and reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government. It has been told that the Uttar Pradesh government has delayed in filing the status report before the court, for which the Supreme Court has reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government. Let us inform that CJI NV Ramanna, who is hearing the case, said, we kept waiting till one o’clock in the night yesterday.

Even after that, the status report in this case was not filed by the Uttar Pradesh government before the court. He further said, during the last hearing, we had clearly told you that at least one day before the hearing of the case, the Uttar Pradesh government should file the status report in the court.

Let us tell you that the Supreme Court bluntly told the Uttar Pradesh government that why only four accused are in police custody – why? Apart from this, the Supreme Court reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government and said, the UP government is dragging its feet with the investigation of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. The court asked the question to the Uttar Pradesh government and said, you said that you took the statements of 4 witnesses. Why not take statements of other witnesses? The court, while objecting to the action of the Uttar Pradesh government, said that why only 4 accused are in police custody while others are in judicial custody? Is there no need to interrogate them? However, the Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of the case till October 26.
