Kolkata News: 80 arrested for illegal activities on Christmas eve, action against those who do not wear masks

More than 80 people have been arrested on these charges.

A senior Kolkata Police official said that on Christmas eve, more than 80 people were arrested from different parts of Kolkata on charges of various illegal activities. The police official said that 191 people were detained for not wearing masks during the rush. Four people were arrested for allegedly assaulting policemen who had come to stop the disturbance outside a pub at around 11.35 pm on Friday night in the Park Street area of ​​the city.

All four started fighting after being taken out of the pub.
A senior police official said the pub’s operators had thrown out four people for creating a nuisance. After this, all four of them clashed with the security guard present there. Started quarreling. After this the police reached there and arrested them. Over 3,000 police personnel have been deployed in different parts of the city to prevent any untoward activities.

We have deployed policemen in plain clothes across the city to prevent any attempt to create disturbance amid the festivities, the senior official said. Along with this, all the people have been instructed by the police to wear masks and follow the prescribed guidelines.
