In Chhattisgarh (Chhattisgarh IPS GP Singh Arrest From Gurugram), the EOW has arrested the accused and suspended ADG GP Singh in the disproportionate assets case. EOW officials said on Tuesday that the EOW has taken Singh into custody in Gurugram for questioning. Singh is being brought to Raipur.
The EOW had registered a case against Singh, a 1994 batch Indian Police Service officer, on June 29 last year under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. After this, the EOW team had searched about 15 places of him and his close friends between July 1 and July 3 and found assets worth Rs 10 crore. Since then GP Singh was absconding. He had also approached the Supreme Court. But there was no relief from there.
Director of EOW in the state Arif Shaikh said that during the investigation of the case, Singh was issued several notices asking him to appear but he neither cooperated in the investigation nor appeared in the office. Singh has not got any relief in this matter from the Supreme Court.
Sheikh said that on Tuesday, an EOW team took Singh into custody from Gurugram for questioning. Singh will be brought to Raipur and will be produced before the court. Further action will be taken later. In fact, after the EOW’s action on the premises of GP Singh, Singh was suspended by the state government. Later, the police also registered a case of sedition against Singh.
According to police officials, when the EOW raided Singh’s residence and the places of his close relatives, they found some incriminating documents there. Based on which a case of sedition was registered against Singh.
