International Womens Day 2022: From Safety, Marriage-Career Choice to Equal Pay, Have Women Still Got the Right to Equality and Freedom (International Womens Day 2022: From Safety, Marriage-Career Choice To Equal Pay, Are Indian women really independent?)
It is true that women are becoming empowered in the midst of all the struggle and adversity… Men are rapidly making their place in the society. The family is also deprived of its rights in the society. Even today, women in our country are facing subjugation and all kinds of difficulties at the social, economic, physical, personal and family level. Laws have been made to empower and free them, many schemes are being run for them, but this freedom has reached only a handful of women and even today freedom remains incomplete for most of the women. For the betterment of women in the true sense, it is not enough just to make laws to strike a balance, but there is also a need to make women aware of their rights. In order to give them complete freedom and on what issues are yet to be worked, it is necessary to discuss on this-

right nutrition freedom
According to the National Family Health Survey 2015-2016, 53% percent of women of childbearing age in India suffer from anemia. The 8th Annual Health and Fitness Survey (2017-2018) conducted by Edu Sports a while back and some other school surveys found that girls have an imbalanced BMI as compared to boys. There was also a significant decrease in the physical strength and energy of the girls. The root cause of this, according to researchers, is that even though girls go out and work, in practice, a large number of parents still prefer to give their sons a good diet, because they are forced to run outside. They have to play, they have to play and they have to earn. This situation and thinking should be changed. The girls of the house also have the freedom of proper nutrition and they should get it.
freedom from child marriage
The situation may have changed in the cities, even though the government has reduced the marriage age of girls to 21, but due to lack of education, outdated thinking and our stereotyped social structure, girls still have a responsibility or alien money in rural India. It is believed and they are married at the age of reading, writing and playing. The age at which the girl child cannot handle herself properly, she gets married at that age. There she not only has to do a lot of work to prove herself good, but sometimes she also becomes a mother in adolescence. Despite all the awareness campaigns, 27% of girls are still married below the age of 18 years. West Bengal and Rajasthan are ahead in this. In the report titled Child Marriages 2019, released by UNICEF, it has been said that if this social evil is not curbed, then by 2030, 150 million girls will be married before their 18th birthday in the country.
freedom from body shaming
It is often said in our society that boys are not seen for their beauty, but in the case of girls, the situation is opposite. In the concern of a good groom, pressure is put on the daughters to look beautiful, slim, fair and glowing. They worry about making themselves look attractive all the time. Be it family members or friends, advertisements of a product or the media – everywhere women’s physical beauty is so exaggerated that they become over-conscious about their weight, complexion and body composition. If the girl is of a heavy body, then if she is fat, dark or firm wheat color, then people do not hesitate to call her black. While it is important to develop qualities in the daughter, it is necessary to enable her, so that she becomes a beautiful and confident person from inside.
freedom from gender division
Our society has also made gender division of work, sports and profession. Even today, you will find only exceptions to girls in the form of electrician, plumber or car mechanic. Admittedly, girls have registered their presence in sports like cricket, football, wrestling, kabaddi and karate, but how small their number is, it is not hidden from anyone. If this wall has to be demolished, then do not ask daughters for any work from the very beginning that this work is not for girls. Don’t limit your daughter to bringing kitchen items. Whether it is to change the bulb in the house, to fill air in the bicycle, to wire the fuse or to hammer a nail in the wall, get all these things done by the daughters also. Teach him how to fix computers, repair bikes or cars, small tasks of electricity. Encourage to be active in sports from the beginning.
freedom of good health
In today’s date, there is a lot of talk with women everywhere on domestic violence, gender discrimination in job or employment, sexual violence, divorce, halala and other issues, but in the midst of all this, an important issue has been left behind. This issue is related to women’s health. Often women take great care of other members of the house, but keep silence about their nutrition, health and mental problems. Often they do not go to the doctor until the condition becomes very serious. The health of women is as important as that of men, it is important to note this.
freedom from monthly untouchability
Menstruation is a normal natural and physiological process. On this basis, women should not be asked to stay away from home or stay in isolation. Not only here, women are discriminated against during the menstrual cycle in many countries of the world. In Pakistan, a husband can lightly beat his wife if she does not take a bath after having sex or after a menstrual period, does not dress according to the husband’s wish, or does not obey her orders. Even today in Nepal, menstruating women or daughters have to live in a very strange condition in the Raj Ghar. There is a need to change this thinking.
freedom to relax
Women are forced to stay outside for a long time. After marriage, full attention is expected on the in-laws and husband only. Homemakers have to work longer hours than men. Men may work for 8-10 or 12 hours, but homemakers have to be on duty round the clock. Working people get holidays on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays or local festivals, but housewives have to work for 365 days. This issue should be given a serious thought and the housewives should also get a break, so that they can recharge themselves and pursue their hobbies.
career freedom after marriage
Despite having an excellent academic record, a decent degree and a job of prestige, most women have to rely on the consent and approval of their husbands for their financial needs after marriage. Most of the women leave the job after having children and very few of these women rejoin the job. Some do not join of their own free will, some due to pressure from mother-in-law or husband and some because of seeing their future in children only. Many a times, women are forced to leave their jobs due to not being able to bear the pressure of both home and office. This fact has also come to the fore in a study conducted by a team of researchers from Harvard Kennedy School on young and single women.
Freedom of practical equality in ancestral property
In most countries, the rights of women on ancestral property are either nominal or are only for show. To say that in India too, daughters have equal rights on ancestral property and they can claim it legally. But that is all to say. Everyone knows that practically if a daughter makes such a claim, then her brothers turn their back on it forever. At the same time, the people of the society give such girls the tag of greedy, selfish and deceitful.
equal pay freedom
Women are also discriminated against in terms of salary. In India, men are paid 20 percent more than women for the same work, according to the latest report of the Monster Salary Index. According to Monster.com, men with 11 years of experience or more are paid 25 percent more than women. Experts say that the attitude of rich and poor or developed and developing countries is almost the same in discrimination against women. Some time ago news came from a reputed media organization like BBC, in which it is told that BBC China editor Carrie Gracie has resigned from her post alleging unequal pay. He said in an open letter that the pay culture in the BBC is mysterious and illegal. While she is working in this institute for more than 30 years. He said that women are paid less than men here.
