New Delhi,(His). India has resumed visa services in some categories from the Indian Embassy and Consulate General in Canada.
In a statement issued by the Indian High Commission in Canada, it has been said that after reviewing the security situation keeping in mind the recent measures taken by Canada, visa services for entry, business, medical and conference will be resumed from October 26. It has been decided to start from.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa and Consulates General in Toronto and Vancouver were forced to temporarily suspend visa services due to security reasons, the statement said. The High Commission and Consulate General will continue to address emergency visa requirements as before.
It further said that further decisions will be taken if appropriate based on continuous assessment of the situation.
It is noteworthy that on September 21, India had taken the step of temporarily banning entry visa services for Canadian citizens. India had bluntly told Canada not to provide safe haven to terrorists and to ensure the security of Indian diplomatic missions and diplomats in Canada.
Explaining the reason for this, the Ministry of External Affairs had clearly said that the Indian High Commission and Consulates in Canada are facing security concerns. This has affected his normal functioning.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had tried to blame India’s foreign intelligence agency RAW for the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar living in Canada. India took a strong stand on this, calling it absurd and motivated. India says that due to domestic politics, the Canadian government is supporting Khalistanis who are openly threatening to attack Indian diplomats and missions.
