Dhami also participated in a road-show there after clearing the way for contesting the by-election from Champawat seat.
Expressing gratitude to the people who came to listen to him, the Chief Minister said that in the coming times, Champawat district would establish new dimensions of development and it would be developed for agriculture, horticulture and improved cultivation of tea.
Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special attachment to Uttarakhand and many public welfare schemes are being run in the state under his guidance. He said that 60 lakh people in the state were being given free ration under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
He said that in the coming time, AIIMS satellite center would be established at a distance of only one and a half hours from Champawat, whereas Khatima bypass would save the time of Champawat-Pithoragarh commuters and travel would also be smooth.
On this occasion, Dhami proposed to compensate the crop damage caused by hailstorm in various areas of Champawat district with disaster head, upgradation of Tanakpur Engineering College as IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), construction of temple corridor in the area and promotion of tourism. To give, many announcements were made including the construction of Jim Corbett Trail in the district.
The Chief Minister also thanked Gahatodi, who had vacated the seat for himself and said, “I have received a call from Maa Poornagiri and Maa Sharda.”
The BJP got more than two-thirds majority in the assembly elections held in February but the chief minister himself, who led the election, lost from Khatima seat. On April 21, Gehtori resigned from the post of MLA of Champawat to clear the way for the by-election for the Chief Minister.
