Uttar Pradesh Police has found evidence of foreign funding of 100 crores to the ATS team engaged in the investigation of illegal conversions. Apart from this, out of the 16 accused arrested in the conversion case, 2 accused have been in contact with the terrorist organization Al Qaeda. The accused were getting funding from London to America and Gulf countries through hawala, in which the hawala syndicate of Gujarat was working as a facilitator.
Conversion gang got foreign funding
After the revelations through Maulana Umar Gautam and Jahangir Alam, who were arrested from the capital Delhi in June, it was revealed that there was a large-scale foreign funding. Till now UP ATS has filed chargesheet against 10 accused, in which there is mention of funding of 89 crores. According to ATS, Umar Gautam’s Hassan Educational and Welfare Foundation received Rs 57 crore from a UK-based trust, Maulana Kalim’s organization Jamia Imam Waliullah Trust received funding of 22 crores.

Funding from multiple countries
The conversion gang got funds from London to America and Gulf countries through hawala. It has also come to the fore that the accused had contact with the terrorists. On the other hand, it has been revealed that there was also a plan to take Ganesh Prasad Kavre alias Adam and Kausar Alam on the path of terror. The 2 accused were in contact with Al Qaeda inspired by bigotry.
Big conspiracy busted
The ATS team is also shocked after the black game of the conversion gang is exposed. After the investigation so far, it has come to the fore that this campaign was also trying to spoil the communal harmony of the country. The accused had hatched a conspiracy to stabilize the government and form a Shariat government.
At present, the Uttar Pradesh ATS has filed two charge sheets against 10 of the 16 accused including Umar Gautam, Jehangir Alam. However, the chargesheet against 6 accused is still awaited.
