There are five assembly seats in Mainpuri Lok Sabha: Bhogavan, Kishni, Karhal, Jaswantnagar and Mainpuri. Of these, two seats are with the BJP and three seats are with the SP. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal and Shivpal Yadav himself are MLAs from Jaswantnagar. In the recent assembly elections, Shivpal got around 1.60 lakh votes in Jaswantnagar and won the election by about 90 thousand votes. Mulayam is not very politically active due to health reasons. In such a situation, there is doubt about his contesting elections in 2024. In the absence of Netaji, Shivpal is considering Mainpuri as more suitable for his candidature than Firozabad. When Shivpal was asked whether his party would get the support of BJP here? He had said that it will be decided when the time comes, but, both my ideology and politics are socialist.
‘It was a mistake to go with the SP’
Informally speaking to reporters at the party office on Friday, Shivpal said that he will no longer have any relation with the Samajwadi Party. Joining SP in 2022 was a mistake. Been cheated many times, no more. Praspa chief said that the party will field candidates in most of the areas in the civic polls, so that the mass base can be improved. In the Lok Sabha elections also, where the organization of the party is strong, candidates will be fielded there. The number of seats will depend on the conditions and equations at that time. In 2019, the PSP had contested on 48 seats. Shivpal said that the campaign to connect the Yaduvanshi community will continue. The party’s dialogue with other organizations is also on. Praspa will raise the voice of the neglected and backward people of the society.
