Holika entered the fire wearing a sheet to kill Prahlat
It is said that Hiranyakashyap’s sister Holika had a chadar. Holika had a boon that even if she goes into the fire wearing this sheet, she will not burn. When the devotee Prahlad became engrossed in the devotion of Lord Vishnu, Hiranyakashyap got angry and ordered his sister Holika to burn Prahlad to death. Then Holika covered the same sheet and entered the fire with Prahlad in her lap. But then a fierce storm came and the sheet flew away from Holika’s body and hugged Prahlad. Because of this Holika was burnt to ashes and Prahlad was saved safely.
