‘Himachal remained in main streaming under BJP government’
Targeting the Congress, the BJP National President said that whenever there was a BJP government at the Center, Himachal Pradesh has been mainstreamed and Himachal Pradesh has progressed in the mainstream of development. Unfortunately, when the Congress government was at the center, the interests of Himachal have been violated.
‘Congress snatched Himachal’s special status’
Nadda said, ‘I will give three examples. Himachal was a special status state. The Center used to give 90% for the schemes and the state’s share was 10%. Special status was taken from Himachal under the Congress rule. Sponsors were changed. The share of the Center was reduced to 60 per cent and that of the state to 40 per cent. Himachal and Uttarakhand were removed. Kashmir and North East State were given special status in the state.
JP Nadda said that there were discriminatory governments in the country. They also used to divide the state on the map of India. When Modi’s government came in 2014, there was Virbhadra in the state, he did not put any demand. In Atal’s government, we had got an industry package in Himachal, but there was a Manmohan Singh government at the center, they withdrew this package within eight years.
‘Congress always discriminated against Himachal’
On Atal Tunnel, Nadda said that its foundation stone was laid in 2002. Atal Bihari had a government at the Centre. The project remained in limbo till 2014 when the Congress government came to power in 2004. When Modi’s government came in 2014, the tunnel work was done. It was Atal’s dream project, hence it was named after him. The PM Sadak Yojana was also withdrawn by the UPA government because Himachal villages did not come under their rules, but now it is not so. The road is being built under the PM scheme.
‘You guys are seen only in poster banners’
On the contest with the Aam Aadmi Party in Himachal, JP Nadda said that AAP had contested 38 seats in Goa, but the bail was saved on 2, the bail was forfeited on 36. In UP, 377 seats were forfeited. Fought in 68 seats out of 70 in Uttarakhand, went to Janat in 66. Got a chance to go to Goa, Uttarakhand or get a chance to go to UP. From the poster banner, it seemed that this is the only party in the state and there is no one, but what happened?
‘We are the next option in Punjab’
Regarding Punjab, Nadda said that out of 117, 23 seats were contested. We were only in some urban areas. Earlier the existence in our seats was only on few seats. Now we have got a chance to take the lotus symbol to the village. We will be the option in the next assembly elections of Punjab.
