Health Department started preparations to deal with the threat of Omicron, activated Covid Care Center

The Health Department has been put in alert mode in view of the possibility of a third wave due to the increasing case of the new variant of Corona in the country, Omicron. During the first and second wave of Corona, the identified hospitals were identified as Covid Care Center and Covid Dedicated Center. For the last six months, there was some relief after the decrease in the cases of corona and the reduction in active cases.

It also affected the preparedness to deal with the threat of Corona. With the knocking of Omicron in South Africa in November, a review of preparedness to deal with it was also started. In view of the increasing number of cases in the country, the state government had directed the hospitals and health units, which have been identified as Covid Care Center in the last two waves of Corona, to be activated again by December 29 and kept in alert mode. .

After the instructions were issued from the headquarters level, the exercise was started in this regard. On the instructions of the DM, the team of Health Department took stock of the preparations by conducting on-site inspection of the previously identified Covid Care Center. Oxygen availability, checking empty cylinders, keeping isolation wards ready to be put in alert mode was asked.

The Health Department also came to the fore when three cases of corona infection came to the fore in Kadwa block of the district three days ago. However, due to the normal condition of all the three infected, they have been kept in home isolation. In view of the threat of Omicron, special emphasis has been laid on increasing the speed of RTPCR test and corona vaccination campaign. On-spot corona examination of people coming from corona affected states and cities is also being done at the railway station.

18 Covid Care Center was identified

A total of 18 Covid Care Centers were identified as Sadar Hospital, Medical College, Radiant Hospital, Manihari and Sub-Divisional Hospitals located at Barsoi and all Community Health Centers located at District Headquarters. PCA oxygen plant was installed in both the sub-division hospitals including Sadar Hospital. The plant was not working due to a technical fault in the oxygen plant of Sadar Hospital.

Four days ago the technical glitch has been fixed. All the three oxygen plants are presently in working condition. There are 430 oxygen cylinders in the district. Apart from this, there are six ICU beds in Medical College and four in Sadar Hospital. Four doctors of Sadar Hospital were sent to the state-level training camp in Patna recently for special training regarding the treatment of infected children.

In view of the possibility of third wave of corona, all the doctors and health workers have been put on alert mode. The identified Covid Care Center has been reactivated during the second wave of Corona. Three days ago, three cases of corona were found in Kadwa. All have been kept in home isolation.
