    Gujarat Politics: Second blow to AAP in Surat in seven days, two more councilors left the party

    Ahmedabad:In Surat, the Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a second setback in a week. Two more councilors of Surat Municipal Corporation have joined BJP. The total number of councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party, which won 27 seats in the February 2021 civic elections, is now 15. Six councilors have already left the party in the first time, then in the second time. Now then a total of 12 councilors have joined BJP. On April 15, 6 councilors have joined BJP together. So, on the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expelled both these councilors taking action. The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP of buying councillors.

    The councilors of AAP who left the party in Surat. They include Ward No. 3 corporator Kanu Gedia and Ward No. 2 corporator Rajesh Moradiya. The Aam Aadmi Party claims that both the corporators were fired. After this he has joined BJP. The Aam Aadmi Party has said in an official statement that the BJP is breaking the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party with money power. After luring and pressurizing two more councilors towards BJP, both the councilors who have turned anti-party are being expelled from the primary membership.

For the first time in February 2021, the Aam Aadmi Party fielded candidates in the corporation elections in Surat. The party had won 27 seats in this election. There are a total of 120 seats in the Municipal Corporation. In these 93 seats were won by BJP.
