Gujarat Politics: AAP on backfoot due to BJP’s double attack in Surat, challenge to save party’s first bastion in front of Isudan Gadhvi

    ndexpressBy ndexpressApril 22, 2023Updated:April 22, 2023No Comments4 Mins Read

Setback to Aap in Surat: In the February 2021 civic elections, the biggest success of the Aam Aadmi Party was in Surat. The party created panic by winning 27 out of 120 seats. It was only after this that AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal took Mission Gujarat forward, but AAP’s first fort is crumbling due to continuous exodus of councilors from the party.

BJP’s burglary in Surat poses a big challenge for AAP.

    highlights

    • Stampede of councilors from Aam Aadmi Party continues in Surat
    • After 6 corporators two more corporators joined BJP
    • Four councilors went to BJP before the assembly elections
    • The total number of councilors left with AAP in Surat is 15.
Ahmedabad:The challenge of saving the party’s stronghold has come before Gujarat State President of Aam Aadmi Party, Isudan Gadhvi, who left journalism and joined politics. Surat had emerged as an epicenter for AAP in the February 2021 civic elections. Now there the party is getting weaker. In 26 months, 12 councilors of the party have changed sides. The AAP leaders, who once taunted Congress MLAs for joining BJP, are now facing a tough challenge. In the coming days, if some more councilors wear the saffron case, then the party will also lose the status of the main opposition party in the Surat Municipal Corporation. Isudan Gadhvi has the responsibility of saving the first bastion of the party amid continuous attacks by the BJP. Isudan Gadhvi became the state chief after the assembly elections. The biggest challenge before Gadhvi is to retain the party as the main opposition party in Surat. If there are less than 12 corporators, then this status will also be snatched from the party.
Gujarat Politics: Isudan Gadhvi furious over midnight strike in Surat, made this big allegation on BJP
All is not well in the party!
AAP’s state Isudan Gadhvi is accusing the BJP of breaking the councilors by using money power and threats. The same allegations are also of other leaders of the party. There may or may not be some truth in these allegations, but sources are telling that all is not well in the Aam Aadmi Party. Somewhere this reason can also be the reason for the stampede of the councillors. The party has sidelined all the old leaders in the state in one stroke. In this, all the old General Secretaries of the organization have been changed. A senior party leader said that there should be a change in the organization but how can it happen simultaneously? Change half the organization ministers and then change the rest later. This is the question on which the party will have to look into. There is discussion in the political circles that the attitude of the party has changed after the resignation of Gopal Italia from the post of State President. The party has become soft instead of aggressive.

New team not connected with old ones
Aam Aadmi Party has formed a new team in the state. The new team does not seem to be connected with the old leaders. Some leaders are also considering this as a big reason. Leaders like Hasmukh Patel, Ramesh Nabhani, Ram Dhaduk, Nimisha Khunt, Arjun Rathwa have been pushed to the margins. So such a big question is emerging whether Isudan Gadhvi, who came from journalism to politics, has fallen alone in helping the organization. Gopal Italia, who raised the organization in the state, is active in the state but now he is co-incharge of Maharashtra. Be that as it may, on the one hand, the number of AAP councilors in Surat is decreasing, while on the other hand, the party’s new difficulty has arisen due to the arrest of youth leader Yuvraj Singh Jadeja. Yuvraj Singh Jadeja has been arrested in the Bhavnagar dummy candidate scam after he was accused of concealing his name by taking money from some candidates. Now it has to be seen how Isudan Gadhvi, who is engaged in forming a new organization for the Lok Sabha elections, deals with this double challenge.
