There is a lot of resentment among the employees due to non-implementation of the old pension scheme. Effect of the strike: Government, semi-government, teachers, non-teaching staff, Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Council and other government department personnel will be on strike.

Health services will falter due to the strike of 35 thousand health workers

Government employees are going on an indefinite strike from Tuesday demanding old pension scheme, allowance etc. Nurses and class IV employees of government hospitals will also participate in this strike. This can affect health services. However, the administration has also made preparations so that the patients do not face any problem.

In fact, government employees appointed after the year 2005 are not getting the benefit of old pension. Government employees are going on strike from Tuesday to ensure that they also get pension under the old scheme. Nurses working in government hospitals and about 35 thousand Class IV employees will participate in this strike. Sumitra Tote, general secretary of the Maharashtra State Nurses Association, said that around 22,000 nurses would go on strike from Tuesday morning itself. Apart from the old pension scheme, health workers are demanding equal pay, equal allowance, promotion.

    Strike got support from AAP
Mumbai President of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Preeti Sharma Menon has announced to support the strike of government employees. The party’s Maharashtra organization minister Vijay Kumbhar said that during the election campaign in Punjab, his party had promised to re-implement the old pension scheme for government employees, which they fulfilled. Explain that according to the provisions of the new pension scheme, a part of the salary deduction of the employees is invested in the stock market. Hence, the post-retirement payout depends on the stock market conditions at the time of retirement. For these reasons, the new pension scheme is being opposed.
