Usually one gets a job after completing engineering studies. But when an engineer leaves a substantial job, this does not come to mind. Today we are going to tell you the story of an engineer who left his job and made ponds.
took the initiative to clean up. This is the story of Pond Man Ramveer Tanwar, a resident of Ghaziabad.
Ramveer Tanwar was born in Dadha-Dabra village of Greater Noida. His father was a farmer by profession. Ramveer’s elementary and higher education was completed in the village itself. He enrolled in engineering after passing the 12th examination. Ramveer’s father did not have money to teach him, but his father wanted Ramveer to become an engineer. For this he even sold his land. With the money of the land, Ramveer got admission in a college in Greater Noida. In the year 2014, Ramveer Tanwar completed his mechanical engineering.
left job to clean the ponds
Ramveer Tanwar, after studying engineering, started working in Scientific Limited Company. He was getting a good salary package. His father was very happy when his son got a job. But in the year 2015-16, he left the job. After leaving the job, for almost two months he did not let his father realize that he was no longer employed. He fully engaged in his cause to preserve the ponds.
Ramveer told that during his graduation, he had joined the campaign related to environmental protection. He said, “When I was doing my graduation, I used to teach tuitions to the children as well. Before getting the job, I was completely dependent on tuition. Meanwhile, whenever I
If I had time, I would meet many environmentalists. The most special among them was Anupam Mishra. I love reading his books.”
Referring to the water in one of his interviews, Ramveer had said that the water level was slowly going down due to the availability of water in the cities. On the other side the ponds were filled with dirt, but no one paid any attention to this side. There was scarcity of water in the village. Most of the ponds had either dried up or their water was not potable due to filth.
As such, he took the initiative to clean the ponds. He started this campaign with the children studying tuition. He asked the children to make all the members aware about the water at their house, but the problem was that the family members did not pay attention to this matter of the children.
So far more than 30 ponds have been cleaned

When Ramveer saw that no one was taking the children’s issue seriously, he himself decided to go door-to-door with the children to make people aware about saving water. His efforts slowly started paying off. People supported him in this campaign of Ramveer. He has cleaned the ponds of his native village Dada-Dabra.
Apart from this, he has also cleaned the waste lying in the water of Ghazipur village in the capital Delhi including many areas of UP, such as Chauganpur in Greater Noida, Rauni village, Morta village in Ghaziabad, Nanakhedi village of Saharanpur and converted it into a clean pond. So far he has preserved more than 30 ponds. People call him by the name of Pond Man since he was successful in this campaign related to ponds.
Ramveer Tanwar is called as a speaker in programs related to environment organized across the country. He has, so far, been a speaker at the Swachhta Pakhwada organized by IndianOil, guest speaker at Delhi University and environment related programs at JNU. Along with this, Ramveer Tanwar has been awarded the ‘World Conservation Award’ by Taiwan at the international level for the unique initiative taken for environmental protection. In the year 2020, he was honored with the National Self-Proclaimed Honor and Environment Award.
Ramveer Tanwar founded the Say Earth organization
Pond Man Ramveer Tanwar says, “When I was thinking about ponds, it came to my mind that there are so many NGOs in the country. All NGOs work to create awareness. But the ground reality remained as it is. I was aware of the ground reality. Then I started conserving ponds alone. Many challenges emerged. An FIR was also registered against the people of our team. We could not reach the ponds lying in private hands. But still we did not give up. With this work I founded an organization called Say Earth.
Today this organization is running a campaign for ponds across the country. This story of Ramveer Tanwar teaches us that we all have to come forward to clean the water sources, only then we will be able to keep the water sources alive.
The Better India Ramveer salutes Tanwar’s spirit and wishes him a better future.
