Firing after stone pelting between two groups in Dhanbad, the area turned into a police cantonment

Dhanbad: A mentally ill teenager from a community had gone missing from Kharkhari Basti of Baghmara subdivision of Dhanbad. The allegation was made against a youth of another community. After this, people of both the communities came face to face on Friday evening. Soon the minor dispute turned violent. There was heavy stone pelting from both the sides. Many houses, shops, four and two wheelers were damaged in this. While many people from both the sides were injured. On getting information about the incident, Circle Officer Kamal Kishore Singh, BDO Sunil Kumar Prajapati, Baghmara DSP Nisha Murmu, who were present as magistrates, reached the spot. But both the sides still did not calm down. In the presence of officers, about a dozen firing and bombing was done from both the sides. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police took the lead and used mild force to disperse the miscreants. During this, the miscreants also scuffled with the police and the journalists who came to cover the incident.

Apart from Madhuban, Kharkhari OP, Katras, Barora, Mahuda police and a large number of district force personnel have taken the lead at the site of the incident. Regarding the incident, it is said that at around eleven o’clock on Friday morning, a dispute started between the two sides regarding the filling of water in Kharkhari Basti. After this, the people of one side took a teenager from the other side and took him to the forest. The family members of the teenager searched for him. When the teenager was found, he narrated the ordeal to the family members.

When the family members of the teenager went to the other side to complain about it, they got furious. They beat up the family of the teenager. On receiving the news of the beating, people from the side of the family members of the teenager reached the settlement. After this a fight started between the two sides. Seeing the fight that started with a scuffle, it turned into stone pelting after sticks. People from both sides started throwing stones at each other. This caused a cry in the settlement. On getting information about the incident, the police of half a dozen police stations of the sub-division area reached the spot. During this, MP representative Ramashankar Tiwari and Kharkhari Panchayat head Kundan Rajak have also suffered injuries while trying to extinguish both the sides.

Police chased the miscreants using mild force
Seeing the deteriorating environment, the police took the front and worked to disperse the miscreants by using mild force. During this also miscreants pelted stones on the police. Till the writing of the news, besides the magistrate, Rural SP Risma Ramesan, Baghmara SDPO Nisha Murmu, along with a large number of police forces are camping at the spot.

A youth in custody, police will investigate and take further action: SP
On the other hand, CO Baghmara KK Singh and Rural SP have denied the incident of firing in the violent clash. The rural SP said the situation had calmed down after a meeting with people from both the communities. A youth has been taken into custody. Police will investigate and take action.
