In order to reduce the level of pollution, in the order issued by the Transport Department in Faridabad on Monday, an ultimatum has been given to confiscate all the expired vehicles by March 3. It has been said that people driving 10 years old diesel and 15 years old petrol vehicles should either scrap their vehicles or send such vehicles outside the NCR region. Instructions have also been issued to the police department to confiscate such vehicles expeditiously. Instructions have also been issued on Tuesday to set up a dumping yard in the district to dump old vehicles.
target to impound
Police Commissioner Vikas Arora has set a target to seize 10 years old diesel and 15 years old petrol vehicles for all the traffic, station and outpost in-charges of the district. According to the order, a target has now been given to seize three old vehicles daily and two outposts in each police station. Similarly, the traffic police has been given a target to seize 100 old vehicles within a week. After this order, all the police stations, outposts and traffic police have become active. Let us tell you that the traffic police have also seized more than 150 vehicles till November this year.
Dumping yard will be ready
After this decision, old vehicles are to be confiscated on a large scale. In such a situation, depositing them in the er place will also be a big challenge before the police administration. In view of this, Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar Arora has asked all the DCPs to mark a place to park the old vehicles to be seized in their area. The confiscated vehicles will not be able to be parked in the police station and there is not much space there either.
Get the vehicles scrapped
A police officer said that it is not yet clear what to do with the seized vehicles, but the owner who owns these vehicles will find it very difficult to get his vehicle released. Later, the police can sell these vehicles in junk by bidding. People have to go through a lengthy legal process to get their old vehicle back. With this, they will also not be allowed to drive the vehicle on the road. Therefore, it would be better to adopt a scrap policy instead of taking the vehicles off the road.
96 thousand is the number of expired vehicles
In the entire Delhi-NCR, 2.87 lakh vehicles are of petrol and 3.07 lakh vehicles are of diesel which are old. Of these, there are about 40 thousand petrol and 56 thousand diesel vehicles in Faridabad, which have crossed the deadline and are still running on the roads. In such a situation, we are taking a lot of pollution in our lungs through daily breath. RSPM (respirable suspended particulate matter) and SPM (suspended particulate matter) are adding to the toxic gases sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and dust particles emitted from vehicles.
In the name of impound is being done
The police have impounded 210 diesel and 126 petrol vehicles till November 22 this year. Not a single vehicle has been impounded in March, May, July and August this year. In several months, only one vehicle each has been confiscated for the purpose of consummation. Traffic police remember the action only and only in traffic month or road safety week. Along with this, now when there is a reprimand from the NGT and the Transport Department, the police and the traffic department are remembering these vehicles.
