The World Health Organization (WHO) has received a fake corona vaccine from CoveShield in India and Uganda. This fake vaccine was also given to the patients by taking them out of the Authorized Vaccine Center. WHO has issued a warning about medical products after getting a fake Coveshield. Here, Serum Institute of India (SII), the company that makes CoveShield, has said that it does not supply CoveShield in 5 and 2 ml vials.
WHO said, ‘SII has confirmed that the vaccine listed in the list is fake. WHO got information about these only from the level of patients in India and Uganda. They were found to be fake due to the frequent missing of the necessary information written on the vaccine.
Fake vaccine is a big threat to people
The WHO said that the fake corona vaccine should be identified and destroyed immediately. Fake vaccines are a major threat to the health of people around the world. This will increase the extra load on the people coming to the risk zone and health facilities.

WHO’s Global Surveillance and Monitoring System has detected counterfeit vaccines from CoveShield regarding counterfeit and substandard medical products. The fake Covishield vial found in Uganda was 5 ml, in which 10 doses were said to be applied. It had batch number 4121Z040 and fake expiry date 10 August written on it.
Pfizer’s fake vaccine was also found
This is not the first time that a fake corona vaccine has been detected. Earlier, the WHO had told about the fake corona vaccine of Pfizer-Bio Entech in American countries.
WHO issued an alert
WHO has issued a medical product alert when counterfeit medicines and vaccines are found in South Asia and Africa. The WHO got the news about the fake vaccine of Coveshield only in July-August this year. Now the WHO has advised to monitor the supply chain of medical products. The health organization has said that it is especially needed in countries where there have been incidents of getting fake vaccines.
