After breaking the previous record of cases of corona virus infection in MP’s Indore on a daily basis, a member of the state government’s advisory committee on Sunday estimated that around the end of January or the first week of February. The third wave of the epidemic may reach its peak in the nearby district. Indore is the most affected district in the state by the pandemic.
Officials said that 1,852 new patients of Covid-19 arrived in Indore during the last 24 hours with an infection rate of 16.5 percent, which is the highest daily number of infected in the 22-month history of the epidemic in the district. He told that during the peak of the second wave of the epidemic, 1,841 infected were found in Indore in a single day on 25 April 2021.
Dr. Nishant Khare, a member of the State Level Advisory Committee constituted for the prevention of Covid-19, told PTI that looking at the current trend of rapid spread of the corona virus, our mathematical estimate is that around the last week of January or the first week of February. The third wave of the epidemic may reach its peak in Indore. During this, more than 5,000 new infected can be found in a single day in the district.
He said that at present less than two percent of the infected in Indore need to be hospitalized and most of the patients are recovering after treatment in isolation at home. There are no symptoms of epidemic in 80 percent of the new infected in the district. Meanwhile, Collector Manish Singh said that the administration is fully prepared to deal with the peak of the third wave of the pandemic and can admit more than 10,000 patients in hospitals if needed.
He said that the district administration would not recommend any new restrictions to the state government for the prevention of the epidemic. According to government data, since March 24, 2020, 1,65,124 people have been infected in Indore district, out of which 1,398 have died during treatment.
