Liquor ban was announced in Bihar under Nitish Raj. The state government with great enthusiasm banned liquor in the entire state. However, it seems that this ban has remained just a declaration as the black business of liquor is flourishing in the state. From January to October, the police have seized 38,72,645 liters of illicit liquor. These figures have been released by the Bihar Police. The state has informed the state police on Friday that from January 2021 to October 2021, a total of 49,900 cases were registered in various districts of Bihar by conducting special raids under the State Prohibition and Excise (Amendment) Act-2018 and a total of 38,72,645 liters. Illegal liquor was seized and confiscated.
Bihar Police released figures
Bihar Police said in an official statement issued on Friday that a total of 12,93,229 liters of country liquor and 25,79,415 liters of foreign liquor have been seized in the state. Giving further information, the police said that during the operation 62,140 accused were arrested and 12,200 vehicles were seized in the state. Of the total accused, 1,590 people were arrested, who were not from the state. These people used to smuggle liquor from other states to Bihar and sell it here. Such incidents were coming to the fore in the state when there is complete prohibition of liquor in the state.

5 districts of Bihar top in smuggling cases
It is worth noting that Bihar has the top 5 districts in terms of seizure of liquor. In which with 45,63,59 liters of alcohol. Vaishali is recorded with 35,00,85 litres, Patna with 25,64,80 litres, Muzaffarpur with 23,25,42 litres, Aurangabad and Madhubani with 223767 litres. Five districts which were on top in terms of arrests. It has Patna with 6855 arrests, Saran with 3872 arrests, Motihari with 2832 arrests, Nawada with 2814 arrests and Muzaffarpur with 2660 arrests. It is worth noting that a day after Diwali, nearly 50 people died in Bihar after consuming spurious liquor.
