Three new universities need their place
Carved out of Magadh University, the largest in the state, the new Patliputra University, headquartered in Patna, has got colleges located in Patna and Nalanda districts under its jurisdiction. Presently, the new university has started functioning from the existing branch office of Magadh University at Kankarbagh, Patna. At present, the university has 19 postgraduate departments under 26 constituent and 43 affiliated colleges, two government girls colleges and three minority institutions, apart from humanities, social sciences, science and commerce faculties (running in different colleges) located in Patna and Nalanda districts . The Government of Bihar has allotted a 10-acre plot near Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College in Bakhtiyarpur. AK Nag, student welfare dean of Patliputra University, said the land has been formally transferred to the university. The construction of its boundary wall will be started soon. However, the present campus of the university in Patna will be retained.
Purnia University is also not in its building
Purnia University was established in Purnia with colleges from BN Mandal University, Madhepura, located in four districts of Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar. It has 15 constituent colleges and three law colleges besides 19 postgraduate departments of various faculties under its jurisdiction. At present, the University is functioning from the newly constructed make-shift premises in the newly constructed examination hall at Purnea College. The Vice-Chancellor of the University Pawan Kumar Jha said that recently the University has been allotted a plot of about 37 acres near Purnia Airport for the development of its new campus. He said that the new campus is likely to be developed by the Bihar State Education Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited after proper sanction of funds from the state government.
Also know about Munger University
Munger University was established after its bifurcation from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU). All the colleges located in Munger, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Khagaria and Begusarai districts were brought under the jurisdiction of the new university. The university has got 20 postgraduate departments, 17 constituent and 17 affiliated colleges and five B.Ed colleges under its jurisdiction. Presently the university is being operated from the administrative office established in the newly constructed examination hall of RD and DJ College, Munger. Munger University was established after its bifurcation from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU). All the colleges located in Munger, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Khagaria and Begusarai districts were brought under the jurisdiction of the new university. The university has got 20 postgraduate departments, 17 constituent and 17 affiliated colleges and five B.Ed colleges under its jurisdiction. Presently the university is being operated from the administrative office established in the newly constructed examination hall of RD and DJ College, Munger. The Vice-Chancellor of the University Shyama Roy said that recently the University has been allotted about 120 acres of land in Munger for the development of its new campus. He said that the construction work will start when the government allocates funds for it.
