Srinagar. An encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in Samnu village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday afternoon. A joint team of police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. Seeing the cordon tightening, the terrorists started firing. Due to this the encounter has started. There is a possibility of two to three terrorists hiding at the spot. The security forces have surrounded the terrorists from all sides and fierce firing is going on continuously from both the sides.
According to the information received, security forces have surrounded two terrorists in the area. Heavy firing continues from both sides. A joint team of Army’s 34 RR and CRPF had received input about the hiding of terrorists. Based on this, the joint team cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation. Meanwhile, the terrorists, seeing themselves surrounded, started firing. In response to this, firing is also being done by the army.
Terrorists infiltrating in Uri sector killed
On Wednesday, the army had foiled an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate into the Uri sector near the Line of Control. Taking action, the security forces killed two terrorists. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate by taking advantage of poor visibility and bad weather. According to the Army, the two killed terrorists have been identified as Bashir Ahmed Malik, a launch commander in PoK, and Ahmed Ghani Shaikh. A huge quantity of weapons have also been recovered from them.
