– Earlier 1238 items have been imported in 3 lists closed
New Delhi, (Hindustan Times). The Ministry of Defense has approved the fourth Indigenization List (PIL) banning the import of 928 sub-systems and spares of military importance under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The details of these items are available on the Srijan portal, which can be procured from the Indian industry only after the deadline specified in the list. This step has been taken to promote self-reliance in the defense sector and to minimize imports by Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the fourth constructive indigenization list of 928 Line Replacement Units, Sub-Systems, Spares and Components of military importance. This includes imported goods worth Rs 715 crore, including high-end materials and additional products. Details of all these items are available on Srijan Portal https:rijandefence.gov.in/. All the items can be purchased from the Indian industry after the time limit fixed in the list.
Earlier three constructive indigenization lists have been released in December 2021, March 2022 and August 2022. There are 2500 items in these lists, which are already indigenous. There are 1238 (351 107 780) items in all the three lists which will be indigenized within the given time frame. So far, 310 out of 1,238 items have been indigenized in the country. This includes 262 items from List I, 11 from List II and 37 from List III for indigenization. Now 928 items have been included in the fourth list.
The Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that defense public sector undertakings will complete this indigenization through various means. Some will develop micro, small and medium industries and make private Indian industries, this will lead to growth in the economy, investment in defense sector and reduction in imports of defense public sector undertakings. Along with this, the design capability of defense equipment will also increase with the involvement of academic and research institutions in the domestic defense industry.
