On Sunday, a CRPF jawan fired AK-47 at his own comrades in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, after investigation revealed that the accused Ritesh was mentally ill. CRPF officials said that Ritesh is a mental patient, due to which his weapon was withdrawn from him some time ago, but from somewhere Ritesh got the weapon of another jawan and opened fire.
CRPF officials said that every soldier in the operation area has a weapon round the clock, but such mental patients are not given weapons. Investigation revealed that Ritesh had a big fight with someone last night, after which he opened fire with someone else’s weapon.
Let us tell you that in each unit of Paramilitary Forces, a place to keep weapons is created, from this place all the soldiers are issued their weapons. If ever the weapon does not work properly or there is a problem in using it, then that weapon is deposited at the same place.
In this case, the CRPF officials said that we will send Ritesh to the rehabilitation center because this is the only solution. Till the time the accused jawan is not sent there, he will be kept away from base, group center and hospital so that he does not have access to weapons again.
