An official of the Union Home Ministry said that the appointment offers of all the selected 400 tribal youths have been issued. The Center had announced the setting up of the ‘Bastariya Battalion’ in 2016. Under this, personnel are largely drawn from the Bastar region and assigned the task of carrying out anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh. Another official said that the government has relaxed the weight and height categories for the recruitment of tribal men and women.
