New Delhi (HS). The meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) lasted till late night on Friday to approve the names of candidates for the assembly elections to be held in five states. There has almost been a consensus on the names of the candidates in these elections. Soon BJP will release the list of all the candidates. Since Thursday, several meetings have been going on in Delhi in this regard. The meeting of senior leaders of the states with party president JP Nadda continued till late Thursday night. The round of meetings continued on Friday also and the meeting of the Central Election Committee started once again at around seven in the evening which continued till late night.
Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BS Yediyurappa, K. Laxman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Sudha Yadav, Devendra Fadnavis, Om Mathur, Nitin Patel, D.K. Aruna, Satyanarayan Jatia and Sarbananda Sonowal were also present. Apart from this, the party’s National Organization Minister BL Santosh, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Rajasthan Party President CP Joshi, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Prahlad Joshi, Shivraj Singh, Raman Singh, Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Telangana State In-charge Tarun Chugh, Chairman Kishan Reddy, prisoner Sanjay also participated.
It is noteworthy that out of 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh, BJP has so far released 4 lists and announced the names of 136 candidates. In its fourth list in Madhya Pradesh, BJP had included the names of 7 MPs including 3 Union Ministers and 25 state ministers. At the same time, BJP has announced the names of 86 out of 90 candidates in three lists for Chhattisgarh. Now only four names are awaited to be announced in Chhattisgarh. Elections are to be held in Chhattisgarh in two phases on November 7 and November 17. Elections for 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan are to be held on November 25, for which BJP has released a list of 41 candidates which also includes the names of 7 MPs. Telangana, with 119 assembly seats, goes to polls on November 30 and the BJP has not announced the names of even a single candidate here yet. BJP has so far announced the names of 21 candidates for the 40 assembly seats of Mizoram. Voting is to be held in Mizoram on 7 November.
