Angered by the incident, the devotees present in the temple thrashed the accused. The news of the incident spread like wildfire in the entire city and soon the SHO of Nagar police station and a large number of policemen reached the spot and arrested the accused. An official spokesperson of the Muzaffarpur police said, “We have arrested the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.” He has been accused of hurting the sentiments of a large community. The accused is injured and we have admitted him to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

“We have deployed additional police force around the temple premises and have also asked the reserve battalion to be on standby,” he said. Intelligence officers have been asked to be alert in their respective areas and inform at the earliest to take preventive measures. Meanwhile, the parents of the accused reached the police station and claimed that he was mentally unsound. He also had some documents to back up his claim.
