Chennai(EMS). On the one hand, almost all the political parties are busy forming alliances before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, AIADMK has broken the alliance with BJP. Now this party is not a part of NDA. There is an atmosphere of celebration outside the party headquarters. AIADMK supporters celebrated by bursting crackers. AIADMK made a formal announcement of breaking this alliance in a press conference. During this, the party said that the BJP state president had deliberately criticized Annadurai and Jayalalitha.
The decision to part ways with the NDA was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami at the AIADMK headquarters. Briefing reporters about the deliberations, former minister and senior leader KP Munusamy said the party has unanimously resolved to walk away from the NDA and lead an alliance of like-minded parties in next year’s elections.
Jayalalitha was insulted
Without naming anyone, the resolution said that the state leadership of the BJP has been defaming Dravidian stalwarts late CN Annadurai and late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, besides criticizing its recent policies. However, there have been reports for several days that the Dravidian party is angry with BJP state president K Annamalai, whose comments about Annadurai had created a rift between the two former allies.
Wave of happiness among AIADMK workers
The AIADMK meeting was attended by top party officials, district secretaries and MLAs and MPs. Amid bursting of firecrackers at the party headquarters here, Munsamy said the unanimous decision respects the sentiments and aspirations of over two crore party workers.
