Vaccine benefits outweigh risks – WHO
The WHO said in a statement that a technical advisory group made up of regulatory experts from around the world has decided that the co-vaccine meets WHO standards for protection against Covid. The benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks and the vaccine can be used worldwide. Covaccine was also reviewed by the WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) and recommended dosages for all age groups 18 and above. The organization noted that the available data on immunization of pregnant women with Covaxin is not sufficient to assess the vaccine’s safety or efficacy in pregnancy. Therefore studies on pregnant women are planned, including the Pregnancy Sub-Study and the Pregnancy Registry.
