JDU is upset with Chandrashekhar’s statement on Ramcharitmanas

JDU has been raging since the day Education Minister Chandrashekhar made a controversial statement regarding Ramcharitmanas at the convocation ceremony of Nalanda Open University. JDU not only opposed it officially, but CM Nitish Kumar advised Chandrashekhar to refrain from such statements. Chandrashekhar countered Nitish and replied that he is firm on his stand. In between, he kept repeating his words everywhere that Ramcharitmanas is a book that spreads hatred. The limit was reached when Chandrashekhar reached the assembly with Ramcharitmanas. He inserted the issue of Ramcharit Manas during the discussion on the budget of the education department in the assembly. The next day, in the Legislative Council also, he started speaking on Ramcharit Manas, which was opposed in the House itself by JDU members along with BJP. The protestors argued that the education minister should talk about education during the discussion on the education budget and not Ramcharitmanas. The protest came to an end when Devesh Chandra Thakur, the Chairman of the Legislative Council, did not allow the Education Minister to speak. He adjourned the proceedings.
