– Two hydro power stations affected
Itanagar, (Hindustan Reporter). A cloudburst on Saturday morning caused devastating floods in Lhalung village near Mechukha in Arunachal Pradesh, causing extensive damage to the area. At least two hydel stations (hydro power stations) have been badly affected, disrupting power supply in Mechukha town and its surrounding areas. The floods caused significant damage to agricultural fields, standing crops, houses, water supplies and livestock. However, no casualties have been reported.

Expressing serious concern over the situation, Assembly Speaker and local MLA PD Sona has directed the district administration to take immediate action and provide all possible assistance to the affected families. He also directed the district administration to immediately assess the damage.

Further, the MLA directed the Power and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) to initiate the process of restoring normalcy at the earliest. Meanwhile, he also informed the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister over the phone about the situation and sought immediate assistance to deal with this crisis.

The hydel station located at Lhalung village serves as the lifeline of power supply for Mechukha town and its surrounding areas.
