This information has been given in a statement released on Friday evening from South Eastern Railway. It has been told that in the evening, the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train near Bahanaga Bazar station, 20 km from Balasore, which derailed the train. There is news of many people being killed in this. At present, the data in this regard has not been clarified by the Railways. The magnitude of the accident can be gauged from the fact that the engine of the Coromandel Express has climbed onto the goods train after colliding with the goods train. After this, all trains going from Howrah to South India have been canceled for the time being. Trains to Odisha have also been cancelled. Because of this many passengers are in trouble. Notable trains that have been canceled include Up Jagannath Express, Up Puri Express, Yesvantpur Express and Chennai Mail.
PM talks to Railway Minister regarding Odisha train accident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the status quo after talking to Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav regarding the train accident in Odisha. It is noteworthy that the train accident took place at around 7 pm. 10-12 coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed near Balasore and fell in the opposite direction. After some time, another train from Yesvantpur to Howrah collided with those derailed coaches resulting in derailment of 3-4 of its coaches. In this, 150 injured and 50 people are expected to die.

Mamta government is sending team to Coromandel accident site
Mamata Banerjee’s government is sending a special team for relief and rescue at the Coromandel Express accident site near Balasore in Odisha. It is noteworthy that train no. 12841 Shalimar – Chennai Coromandel Express and Train No. 12864 SMVB- HWH Superfast Express derailed near Bahanaga Bazar railway station at around 6.55 pm on Friday.
