New Delhi (EMS). A.Ditya L1 has been delivered to the second orbit of the Earth. According to information received from ISRO, the second procedure related to the Earth’s orbit of the country’s first Sun mission ‘Aditya L1’ was successfully completed early on Tuesday. According to ISRO, the second orbital maneuver was carried out from the Bengaluru-based ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network. The space agency posted on social media platform ‘X’ that the second Earth Orbit Maneuver (EBN#2) was successfully executed from ISTRAC, Bengaluru. ITRAC and ISRO centers in Mauritius, Bengaluru and Port Blair monitored the satellite during the mission. The new orbit obtained is 282 km x 40225 km. ISRO said that the third procedure related to the Earth’s orbit of Aditya L1 is scheduled on September 10, 2023 at around 2.30 am Indian time. Aditya L1 is the first Indian space-based observatory to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere from the first Sun-Earth Lagrangian point (L-1), located about 15 lakh kilometers from Earth.
It is noteworthy that ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C57) had successfully launched ‘Aditya L1’ from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on September 2. The first orbital procedure of this satellite was successfully carried out on September 3. ‘Aditya L1’ will have to undergo two more orbital procedures before entering the transfer orbit towards the Lagrange point L-1. The satellite is likely to reach the desired orbit at L-1 point after approximately 127 days.
