More than half of these patients are from Mumbai city alone (Covid cases in Mumbai). In the last 24 hours, 20,971 new patients were found in Mumbai. On Friday, 14,256 patients have also fully recovered from Corona. So far, the number of patients recovering from Covid in the state has reached 65,47,410. The recovery rate is 95.8%. At present, 7,42,684 people are in home quarantine in the state and 1,463 people have been kept in institutional quarantine.
There will be no lockdown in Mumbai
Meanwhile, fears of imposing lockdown or additional restrictions in Mumbai have been dismissed by the commissioner of BMC. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Chahal told a Marathi news channel that the decision to impose lockdown during the first and second wave was taken on the basis of positivity rate, but this scale is not applicable for the third wave which started from December 21, 2021. can be done.
No restriction on traveling by local trains
Commissioner Iqbal Chahal said that there is no need to impose any further restrictions on travel by local trains as only fully vaccinated people are being allowed to travel in trains. Chahal said, ‘The criterion in the first and second wave was the infection rate, but in this wave of the Omicron variant of the virus, the two new criteria should be the need for hospital beds and the need for oxygen.’
