killing for ponds
Bijendra Prasad Yadav, replying to a starred question by BJP member Sarawgi in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, said the killings cannot be attributed to a water dispute. Besides, while there were 265 murders in water disputes in the country, as per the National Crime Records Bureau, Bihar’s record of 112 murders arising out of disputes over ponds cannot be put in the same category, the minister said. The reason behind these killings regarding the ponds is not clear. However, since this matter was raised in the House, people are wondering as to how so many murders took place for the pond.

Education Minister’s answer to Saraogi’s question
On the other hand, Education Minister and senior RJD functionary Chandrashekhar said in the assembly on Monday that he and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat have also given controversial statements regarding the epic Ramcharitmanas. Chandrashekhar, who created controversy in the sixteenth century by commenting critically on the poor representation of “Shudras” and women in the Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsi Das. He said that the RSS chief has also given a similar statement on the matter. The minister said this as part of the government’s reply to the House debate on the education department’s budgetary demand of over Rs 41,000 crore for 2023-24. On which the cut motion was moved by BJP member Sanjay Saraogi.
Education Minister Chandrashekhar replied
Later, the House passed the budget by voice vote, as the main opposition consisted of members of the BJP, who walked out of the House when the minister’s reply began. The minister said that when someone makes a critical statement on the epic, it is immediately labeled as controversial. But, Bhagwat has now also said that there is a need to remove (or edit and remove) the negative aspects from the epic. The Bhagavata also states that the institution of caste was created with selfishness in mind (and it was not created by God).
