Dehradun : 11 people of a family who had come for a picnic at Guchupani in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, faced a crisis when the water level of the river suddenly increased. 11 people, including three children, were suddenly caught in the strong current due to the rise in the water level of the river. Fortunately, the team of Cantt Kotwali Police, SDRF and Fire Brigade reached the spot and took everyone out safely after two hours of hard work.

Inspector Shankar Singh Bisht of Cantt Kotwali said that some tourists were reported trapped in Guchupani at 4 pm on Saturday. On reaching the spot, it was found that some people had gone to the other side of the river and suddenly they got stuck there due to the rise in the water level of the river. Inspector Shankar Singh Bisht said that the rescue team waited for some time for the river water to recede. When the water level of the river did not subside even after a long wait, the rescue was started. Ropes were carried to the stranded persons on the other side of the river. After this he was pulled out with the help of ropes.

SSP appealed to the people
SSP Janmejay Khanduri appealed to the people to avoid going towards the river during the rainy season. Do not go to the river even if the weather is not bad as the water level can rise sometimes due to rain in the mountains. In such a situation, the possibility of something untoward happening at any time increases.
