The general public has been facing the brunt of inflation since last months. The public was repeatedly accusing the government that inflation has increased a lot, but the government was repeatedly denying this, but now the government data has proved that inflation has indeed increased manifold. Data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that the countrywide wholesale inflation rose to 12.54 per cent in October. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose by 10.66 per cent during the month of September. While the WPI for August was revised upwards to 11.64 per cent from 11.39 per cent, the data showed. WPI stood at 1.31 per cent in October 2020.
The biggest increase in prices this month
The ministry said in its statement that the higher rate of inflation in October 2021 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year was mainly due to increase in the prices of mineral oils, base metals, food products, crude petroleum and natural gas, chemicals and chemical products etc. reason. Inflation in manufactured goods rose to 12.04 per cent in October from 11.41 per cent in the previous month. The data shows that the food articles segment saw a change of (-)1.69 per cent in October. In the previous month it was 4.69 per cent. The manufactured products segment grew by 12.04 per cent last month led by a growth of 32.57 per cent in vegetable and animal oils and fats.

The effect of inflation on everything from eggs to oil
The price hike of fuel and electricity stood at 37.18 per cent in October, as against 24.81 per cent in September. According to the data, the prices of vegetables declined by (-)18.49 per cent in October, compared to 32.45 per cent in September. Potato prices declined by (-)51.32 per cent, while onion prices declined by (-)25.01 per cent. Besides, the prices of pulses increased by 5.36 per cent last month, while that of fruits increased by 8.22 per cent. Prices of eggs, meat and fish rose 1.98 per cent in October.
