through netbanking
One has to opt for filing ITR by generating EVC through NetBanking. After that, after selecting your bank, login to its internet banking and click on the tax tab, after which you will again be redirected to the income tax website. There, in the My Account tab, select the option of Generate EVC. After this, a 10-digit alpha numeric code will be sent to your mobile and email, which will be valid for 72 hours. From here go to the eVerify option under the My Account tab in the Income Tax Department website and verify your ITR with the help of your mobile number by selecting the option I have EVC already.
through bank account
- Your bank account number should be prevalidated in order to e-verify the return through bank account. To validate the bank account number, the bank account number has to be linked with the PAN.
- After verification, go to the e-filing portal and click on the e-verify link.
- Select the option of Return Verify and generate OTP by submitting your bank account details.
- An EVC will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- After submitting this EVC, your return will be verified.
Through Aadhar OTP
- To verify Income Tax Return online, go to the INCOME TAX Department website and click on ‘e-File Return’ given in ‘Important links’ on the left side.
- After that click on ‘e-Verify’ under ‘Our Services’ in the new page.
- After this, proceed by entering the details of the return such as PAN, assessment year, mobile number, acknowledgment number. Next will come the Verification segment and then the Verification Method segment.
- In the verification method, you have to select the option of ‘Return Verify through Aadhaar OTP’. In this option OTP will be received on your mobile number registered in Aadhaar.
- After entering the OTP number, click on submit.
- After this you will get the message of successful return e-verified.
via ATM
- Swipe the ATM card at the bank’s ATM.
- Click on ‘PIN for Income Tax Filing’.
- An Electronic Verification Code (EVC) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Now login to the Income Tax Department website and click on the e-verify return option.
- In the verification method, click on the option ‘Already generated EVC through bank ATM’.
- Enter the EVC code sent to your mobile Your ITR will be verified.
However, customers of only 7 banks can avail this facility. These banks are Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India.
through demat account
If you use a demat account, then ITR verification can also be done through that. Its method is also similar to that of a bank account. First you have to prevalidate the demat account. Once the demat account is prevalidated, generate the EVC and then verify the ITR with the help of your mobile number. The process is exactly the same as for a bank account.
offline mode
If any of the above 5 options above e-verification do not work or you do not want to use them, then you can verify the return by sending the signed copy of the ITR-V form to the Income Tax Department. Sign the ITR-V form with blue ink pen and send it by speed post to ‘CPC, Post Box No – 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore – 560100, Karnataka, India’. When this copy is received by the Income Tax Department, then its notification will come on your mobile number and email id. Remember that the ITR-V form must reach CPC, Bangalore within 120 days from the date of e-filing.
